[387 MD 40]. For the period 1793-1795. This and the other four ships' account books contain detailed information on Leyland's involvement in the slave trade (387 MD 40-44). Each of these volumes follow a set format. They include a letter of instruction to the ship captain; invoices of merchandise shipped; a list of the crew; tradesmen's notes and disbursements for the cargo and for the outfit; accounts of slave sales and charges on sales; and disbursements made at the point of sale, presented as debit and credit accounts.
